Viva: Physics

Viva Physics (Soft-body Dynamics)

All three Viva levels are fully compatible with Second Life's physics engine. Physics, or more generally called "soft-body dynamics," allows for the bounce and jiggle of breasts, belly and butt. Soft-body dynamics is highly effective, adding an element of reality, and making an avatar come to life on your screen.

The amount of bounce and jiggle is controlled by wearable physics layers. Viva includes three physics layers. The default physics layer has a slight bounce and jiggle. The two other layers offer an increasing amount of bounce/jiggle. One way to think of the physics layers is to associated them with clothing choices: use the default physics layer for regular wear, and use the other two physics layers for loose fitting clothing and lingerie.

Remove Physics

If you prefer not to have any physics effects, you can turn it off by removing the physics layer. That's done by right clicking and selecting "Take Off."

All three physic layers are modifiable so you to can tweak and change them as needed. To make changes in a physics layer, find it in your inventory and wear it. Once it is worn, right click and select EDIT.

I won't go into a lot of specifics when it comes to editing a physics layer. You find an excellent description on the Firestorm Wiki. I do want to make mention of some of the settings that are found in the physics layers that come with Viva. Among those are the settings for belly and butt movement. I have tamped those down a bit, resulting in what I feel is a more natural movement. You can, however, change these for your particular body style.

I've also reduced the sideway sway of the breasts. That was particularly necessary for the smaller shapes - Slender and Petit - that are included with Viva. Without the reduction, the breasts tilted to the side in an unnatural way, even while standing still.

It's actually quite fun to work with the physics layers. Be sure to check out the Firestorm information mentioned above. One last thing I want to mention is something called a shaker table. Made by Suzie Larsen and Hunter Bronet, it costs only 29 Lindens and is really helpful when making adjustments to a physics layer.
